Session Highlights - September 14, 2006

·                    Tom Robson and Don Calderwood, members of the Presbytery Committee on Ministry conducted an exit interview regarding Rev. Melissa Ramos' ministry at Covenant and granted permission to form an Associate Pastor Nominating Committee.

·                    Regretfully dismissed from our membership Tim and Jessica Mason at their request.

·                    Approved a request from the Evangelism and Membership Committee for a prayer vigil from 6 pm until 12 am on Friday October 13, 2006.  Prayer that God might use the people and resources of Covenant to reach others will be the focus.

·                    Approved a request from the Evangelism and Membership and Stewardship Committees for a in-house progressive dinner at the Wednesday night supper on November 1, 2006.  Courses will be served in various parts of the building with explanations of volunteer opportunities in each area.

·                    Approved a request from the Mission Committee for Covenant's participation in the Habitat for Humanity all-Presbyterian built home planned for the fall of 2007.  Covenant's 40% of the World Communion offered will be used to support the Presbyterian built Habitat house.  Session approval was also granted for the committee to begin other fundraising efforts with a goal of raising $2000-$2500 to contribute to this project.

·                    Approved a request from the Worship and Music Committee for a International Potluck following worship on World Communion Sunday, October 1, 2006.

·                    Approved a request from the Music and Worship Committee for a soup luncheon beginning after Sunday School and continuing after 11:00 worship on Sunday, October 29, 2006.  Proceeds will be used to purchase chancel choir music.

·                    Approved a request from the Music and Worship Committee to hold one morning worship service at 10:00 am on Sunday December 24 in the sanctuary and evening services at 5:00 pm, 7:30 pm and 11:00 pm.

·                    Approved a request from the Strategic Planning Committee to conduct a Leadership Retreat on Sunday October 22, 2006 from 12:30-3:00 pm.

·                    Regretfully received and concurred with Joan Erickson's letter of resignation as Director of Christian Education after five years of service effective October 9, 2006.  Joan's position with the Presbytery is requiring more travel responsibilities and she will be concentrating on her writing projects.  The Session voiced its appreciation and gratitude for Joan's dedicated and exceptional ministry as well as its support for her future endeavors.
