Administration
Committee

(Session Liaison)
Committee Members: Brenda Johnson, Emily
Metzger, Kate Scheer, Deb Rhinesmith and Rob Erickson (Staff)
This
committee is responsible for the personnel issues of the church including
reviews of policies and compensation of the staff. We oversee the budget of
Pastor, Office, and Administration that includes the Pastor, Associate Pastor,
C.E. Director, Secretary, and Administrative Assistant’s wages as well as the
church payroll taxes. All the office supplies and expenses are included within
the Administration budget. The coordination of all meetings, committees, and
groups using the church is funded from this area as well.
2006 was the
year of change. A new Administrative Assistant was hired in January, Kevin Farrell. In January, our
Church Secretary became ill and many individuals filled the need of this
important position. Sally decided to resign and the Committee interviewed
several individuals for the position and in May we hired Laura Russell as our
new Church Secretary. In August, our Associate Pastor accepted the call to
further her education and requested to do so. Currently, a nominating committee
for an Associate Pastor has been formed. With our Associate Pastor leading the
youth of the church we needed to fill that vacancy immediately and in September
we hired a Youth Ministry Team led by Joe Wiseman which includes Andi
Rutherford, Adam Erickson, Amy McCowen. In September, our Director of Christian
Education, Joan Erickson resigned to further studies and writing for the
Presbytery. The Committee reviewed the job description and interviewed a few
candidates and in November we hired a new Director of Christian Education,
Susie Williams. Also in September our
Organist/Pianist wanted to reduce their hours of playing so we know have a
round robin of Pianist, Organist and Musical talent on any given Sunday during
our Worship time. Also the Children’s Music Director resigned and we found an
outstanding individual that is having a joyous time leading the young voices of
the Church. Thanks Rob!
This
year the Administrative Committee surprised our Pastor in coordination with
October being National Pastor’s month. We
celebrated every Sunday with something new with and about our Pastor.
Covenant
is very blessed with our NEW Staff, we are all expecting great things that God
will allow them to do, share and perform in all their functions. We all look
forward to 2007 and the great things our Staff will provide.
